How A Chakra Boosters Temporary Tattoo Turned Out To Be A Spiritual Slap Of Big Girl Panties
Today I'm going to tell you a tale of how someone came into my life as an online acquaintance and changed everything.
A couple weeks ago, Vikki Howie of Chakra Boosters sent me a set of her temporary chakra tattoos. They were beautiful, colorful, sent without excess packaging, and a description of how to apply. I clicked around her site to have a better grasp on how they work (by applying each tattoo over it's coordinating chakra, it helps to heal and balance that energy center), and followed her link to a chakra test.
Being new to the concept of chakra's, I spent four minutes clicking through the survey and got my results. According to it, my root chakra is starving. Or blocked. Or something. Basically, the red bar is really low!

I didn't just put it on, however. The past year has been a whirlwind of worldy things and my spiritual self has been highly neglected. I hesitated. I wasn't sure I could handle it if the tattoo didn't work. I wasn't sure I could handle it if it DID work! Eventually I decided that perhaps this was The Universe handing me a key, and it would be doing a diservice to everyone involved if I didn't open my heart and just try it.
So I did.
And that's where things get interesting.
Within a few hours of applying the root chakra tattoo, I felt a buzz. Not a coffee buzz, not a bumblebee buzz, but a deep, steady buzz from within. It reminded me of eating chia seed - the sustainable energy that comes from it - but in a spiritual fashion. Over the next 24 hours, that buzz continued and I became driven. Driven to work, to achieve, and complete projects. I tend to be rather flighty and distracted when it comes to work. It's difficult for me to focus, and I am the queen of procrastination. Instead of my usual habits, I worked for four days on a project until it was completed, without difficulty, and cranked out a couple of DIY projects during the kiddo's nap time! I knew what I wanted and was clearheaded and confident enough to go after it. It was, for lack of a better phrase, like getting slapped with a pair of big girl panties.
Today I'm breaking through this veil of silence on my blog (while wearing the throat chakra), which is yet another milestone for me.
If it hadn't been for the boost from these tattoos, I would probably be continuing to trudge through everyday life as usual. Instead I'm taking steps to nurture and grow the energy that drives all that I am. Chakra Boosters are a kick start for your life, especially for the areas you may doubt you have the ability to tackle.
All I can say is, YES. They are amazing. YES. I am a believer. YES. If you feel like there is an area of your life that could use improvement, look up your kick-in-the-panties-needing chakra and give Chakra Boosters a try. They're inexpensive, so you don't
have a lot to risk. In my experience you could have a whole world to gain. While you're at it, be sure to like the Chakra Boosters Facebook Page. Vikki posts informative and inspiring videos and articles on a regular basis.
And Vikki, sincerely, thank you. <3
[Edit: I'd like to point out that although Chakra Boosters has been a sponsor for LivingHipToday, our review is our own. I want to assure you the glowing review above has not been influenced by anything other than my own experience. Had I not had such an incredible experience, the review would have been typical: Explaining what the tattoos are, what they do, what they look like, and where to find them. Or, if this product were bogus, I would have said that or chosen not review. Sending a product or being a sponsor doesn't guarantee a positive review. Having an awesome product does that.]

10 Toss-Aways You Can Keep
Around our home, we're big on up-cycling. To up-cycle, just take one object you'd usually recycle or throw away and combine it with a creative use. Here are 10 of the quick and easy things we do to keep our garbage and recycling loads smaller.
10 Toss-Aways You Can Keep
1. Yogurt Cups
Great for seed starters. Many seed starter mixes will usually keep their shape when you transplant. Drill a hole or two in the bottom and you're ready to plant. Try a little soil, some cat grass (or wheat grass) seed, and water to create a great cat treat. Please note, you should let the grass grow before you give it to your cats. I've tried it the other way and they just make a mess.
2. Egg Cartons
Egg cartons also make great seed starters. We plant a lot, so almost every possible planting receptacle gets used. These don't hold together very well. And you should definitely steer toward the cardboard variety. I don't care for styrofoam anything.
3. Kitchen Cast-Away
Did you know you can use onion peelings... and many other rinds, cores, peels, and seeds. Keep a container in your freezer to catch veggie scraps and a separate one to catch bones. Later, you can boil these to make broth. Use common sense here and check anything you don't know if you can eat. For example, I don't recommend avocado peelings.
